field marketing

Field marketing software for teams that visit stores.

Field marketing software plans, runs and records the store visits your merchandisers and brand ambassadors make. Lead Mapper puts every store from your CRM on one map, routes each rep's day by how often each store is due, and writes every visit back to the store's record in HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive or Zoho. What is field marketing software? The short answer

Field marketing software is the system a brand's field team runs its store visits on: which stores each person covers, which stores are due this week, the route between them, and what was done at the shelf. For a team of 20 to 100 people in retail, the number that decides everything is visits per week, and that number is fixed by your store list and your cadence, not by how hard anyone drives.

Lead Mapper is built for it: every store in your CRM on a map, colored by tier and days since the last visit, routed in seconds, and every visit logged back as an activity on the store record.

The capacity ruleA 40-person team at 7.32 visits a day (Repsly's published figure) holds at most 3,145 stores on an A/B/C cadence, and 3,000 stores leave a slack of 68 visits a week (the math)

Where this comes from

Visit rates are Repsly's published figures for reps on its platform, read 8 October and 7 November 2026. The capacity table is our model from those figures.

What field marketing software does for a retail field team

SourceForge, which lists the category, opens its definition with "Field marketing software helps businesses plan, execute, and track marketing campaigns and activities in the field" (sourceforge.net, read 7 November 2026). For a team that walks into stores, plan, execute and track break down into five jobs:

  • Coverage. Every store you sell into, on a map, owned by one person. Lead Mapper draws territories on the map and assigns each to one rep.
  • Cadence. A stores weekly, B stores every two weeks, C stores monthly. Each pin shows days since the last visit.
  • Routing. Today's due stores in the order with the fewest miles, on the rep's phone.
  • Execution at the shelf. The visit checklist, the photo of the display, the out-of-stock note, captured in the mobile app at the store, offline if the store has no signal.
  • The record. Every visit written back as an activity on the store in the CRM you already run, with check-in time, location, photos and checklist attached.

Field marketing software vs event marketing software

Search "field marketing software" and the results split in two. Of the first ten results in a web search on 7 November 2026, two are event platforms (inEvent and vFairs), built for registrations, booths and webinars. The other results are field apps, merchandising tools and listings.

If your field team is merchandisers, brand ambassadors, demo staff or retail reps, you want the second kind. Ask for tomorrow's route for one rep, built from your store list, overdue stores first. Lead Mapper shows it in the first minute of the free trial.

How many stores a field marketing team can cover

Repsly publishes visit counts from its users' field data: "7.95 visits/rep/day versus 7.32 in the U.S." (repsly.com, read 7 November 2026). Take the U.S. figure, five working days a week with no holidays, and an assumed cadence: 20 percent of stores are A (weekly), 30 percent B (every two weeks), 50 percent C (monthly). Each store then needs 0.47 visits a week on average.

Field teamVisits per week at 7.32 a dayStores it can hold on a 20/30/50 A/B/C cadence
20 people7321,572
40 people1,4643,145
100 people3,6607,862

Model, not measurement: real capacity is lower, so read each store count as the ceiling for its visit rate. Repsly reports its highest rate, "8 visits" a day, for CPG food and beverage reps (read 8 October 2026); at that rate the same 40 people hold at most about 3,437 stores. Use your own visit rate.

Now the part we did not find on the vendor pages we read. A 40-person team with 3,000 stores on that cadence needs 1,396 visits a week against a capacity of 1,464. The slack is 68 visits, 4.6 percent, less than two people out for one week. Two reps out in the same week, or 100 stores moving from C to A (each adds 0.77 visits a week, 77 in total against a slack of 68), and the cadence breaks silently: the C stores slip past their month.

That is why the map has to show days since the last visit. In Lead Mapper the overdue stores turn red the moment they slip, and the manager moves them into next week's routes before a buyer sees the gap.

Field marketing software features to compare

Run every demo on your own store list against these seven checks.

  • Stores come from your CRM, not a second database. Lead Mapper reads stores, accounts and contacts from HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive, Zoho CRM, Microsoft Dynamics and six more CRMs.
  • Every visit goes back to that CRM. Lead Mapper logs each visit as an activity on the store record, with check-in time, location, notes, photos and the checklist, proof the visit happened.
  • Cadence by tier. Set A, B and C frequencies once; the map and the route builder pull due stores automatically.
  • Routes that respect the day. Store hours, drive time and a stop limit per day. The rep runs it in driving mode, marking each stop done or skipped.
  • Territories you can rebalance. Split and reassign on the map when a rep leaves.
  • New stores you do not have yet. Lead Mapper searches businesses by category around any point on the map and adds them to the route.
  • A manager view. Who visited what this week, which tier is behind, which territory is overloaded, in one screen.

Lead Mapper has all seven ready on your own CRM when you start the 7-day trial.

A Monday plan for a 40-person field marketing team

Five steps, in order:

  1. Tag every store with a tier in your CRM. One property, three values.
  2. Filter the map to "due this week": A stores not visited in 7 days, B in 14, C in 30.
  3. Check each territory against its capacity. At 7.32 visits a day a rep does about 37 a week. A territory with 45 due stores is a problem you can fix on Monday, not discover on Friday.
  4. Build the week's routes from the due list and send them to the phones.
  5. Read the coverage on Friday from the visits written back to the CRM. The stores still red go to the top of next Monday's list.

With stores on a map and visits in the CRM this is a one-hour job for one manager. A spreadsheet takes a day and is wrong by Wednesday.

Field marketing software that works with the CRM you already run

A brand's store list lives in the CRM. A field tool with its own store list creates a second truth the day it is installed. Lead Mapper connects to the CRM you already run, including HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive, Zoho CRM and Microsoft Dynamics.

FAQ

Field marketing software FAQ

Lead Mapper is field marketing software for teams that visit stores: it plans which stores each person covers, routes the day by visit cadence and records every visit on the store in your CRM.

Lead Mapper plans store visits, which is what field marketing means for retail and consumer brands. Event marketing software, which some B2B vendors also call field marketing, handles registrations, booths and webinars.

In Lead Mapper's model, one rep at 7.32 visits a day, the figure Repsly reports for its U.S. users, does about 37 visits a week and can hold about 78 stores on a 20/30/50 A/B/C cadence. A 40-person team holds at most 3,145 stores at that rate.

Lead Mapper connects to HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive, Zoho CRM, Microsoft Dynamics and six more CRMs and logs each visit back to the store record.
